New Music: The Figureheads, Holy Monkey Mixtape

After a looooooong hiatus, Milwaukee’s The Figureheads are back with a new batch of hip hop for kids. The trio consists of Greg Marshall, Jeremy Bryan and Dave Olson.  The new album Holy Monkey Mixtape is a tight, cohesive album with smart, thought-challenging lyrics at the forefront. Listen closely or you might miss the message.  It serves as great conduit to educate your child.

In their own words:

The Figureheads is an award-winning musical act turned non-profit organization using original positive hip-hop music to engage youth and educators, from pre-kindergarten through high-school, in order to develop critical thinking and collaborative skills that result in a greater desire to learn and relate.

Can they give Secret Agent 23 Skidoo a run for his money as the King of Kid-Hop? Not yet. But they are the most formidable challenger yet.

New Music: Hullabaloo – Dad Upside Down

Hullabaloo won’t release their new record, Raise a Ruckus, until early September. That hasn’t stopped them from releasing a second video for the album, the first being “Out Standing.”

“Dad Upside Down” is a country tune based on palindromes in the family – Sis, Mom, and Dad. So enjoy this grin-inducing video and song from Hullabaloo.

Pixar Debuts First ‘Monsters University’ Teaser

I’ve reached the point where I’ve stopped watching most trailers, because A) my kids won’t be quiet long enough for me to hear anything and B) every movie gets at least half a dozen of the damn things before it reaches theaters, so if you want to be surprised by anything that happens during the film, paying attention to trailers doesn’t pay. And yet here’s a teaser for the long-awaited prequel to Monsters Inc., featuring our pals Mike and Sulley during their college days:

Short and sweet, just like a trailer should be. Monsters University is scheduled to arrive in theaters on June 20, 2013.
